Simon Murray will have some pressure on his shoulders when he makes his debut in the Premier Soccer League -- likely at the weekend -- coming from the top-flight in Scotland. Bidvest Wits paid over a nominal sum to secure the services of the 26-year-old, who has been brought in to try and end the club's scoring woes after a campaign they battled relegation for most of the 2017/18 campaign. Murray has been with the 2017 champions over the last month, but his signing was only made formal by the club last week . Honda driver Jack Goff said securing a win and second place during the British Touring Car Championship Diamond Double meeting 'was a good answer' to the Eurotech squad's Croft nightmare. Having failed to score a single point during what proved to be a disastrous weekend at Croft prior to the summer break, Goff and Eurotech hit back with a vengeance during the Snetterton meeting. Goff shattered the BTCC lap record in both qualifying sessions to line up on pole position for race one and the third Diamond Double encounter later in the day.

  The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Bauchi on Tuesday said that it had screened and cleared candidates of nine political parties to contest in the Bauchi South Senatorial by-election. The exercise has been slated for August 11, 2018. INEC Head of Voters Education and Publicity in the state, Yahaya Mohammed, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Bauchi. He listed those cleared as Haruna Ayuba, ADC; Lawal Gumau, APC; Aminu Tukur, APP; Isa Yuguda, GPN; Usman Hassan, KP; Husseini Umar, NNPP; Usman Chaledi, PDC; Ladan Salihu, PDP and Maryam Bargel, SDP. Mohammed said the list of the candidates was submitted to the commission by their various parties after their primaries. Speaking on preparations for the election, Mohammed disclosed that the commission had recruited 3,500 ad hoc staff that would man 1,944 polling units in seven Local Government Areas of the state that constituted the senatorial district.
